Outdoor water restrictions

Residents are reminded that the City of Vaughan restricts outdoor water use from May 15 to Sept. 30, Supply and Use of Water By-law 106-2022 (PDF), each year. This water conservation measure ensures an uninterrupted supply of water for everyone.

 

Outdoor watering schedule

All properties

Even numbered street addresses are restricted to watering on even numbered calendar days.

 

Odd numbered street addresses are restricted to watering on odd numbered calendar days.

Freshly laid sod and newly planted shrubs and trees are exempt from such restrictions for a four-week period.

 

Residential properties

Watering is allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on any permitted calendar day.

 

 

Industrial, commercial and institutional properties

Watering is restricted to a maximum period of three hours between midnight and 7 a.m. on any permitted calendar day.

 

During times when water use needs to be restricted further, it will be implemented in stages as follows:

  • Should a "Water Advisory" be issued, all residents will be asked to refrain from any outdoor water use.
  • Should an "Outdoor Water Use Ban" be enacted, the outdoor use of water is prohibited, and residents found violating the ban will be charged. The maximum fine for violating an Outdoor Water Use Ban issued under By-law 106-2022 (PDF) is $5,000.
